Black Catholic Advisory Circle

OUR HISTORY

Then

President and Co-Founder of the Catholic Interracial Council, Walter Hubbard established what was to become the feeder organization leading to the founding of the African American Black Catholic Advisory Group in 1987.

Now

In 2008 after a brief hiatus in leadership at the Office of Multicultural Ministries at the Archdiocese of Seattle, the new Director resurrected the group under the name of the Black Catholic Advisory Circle and appointed, with the blessing of the Archbishop, SeVera Dowe, OCDS as Chair. BCAC is supported and administered by the Office of Multicultural Communities, Director Dcn. Carl Mary Chilo, O.P.

Moving Forward

The consensus of BCAC Members is to be more inclusive of the many constituents and people that make up the Archdiocese of Seattle. As we continue to grow and garner more representation throughout the Archdiocese, we have evolved from our earliest goals while keeping the commission of the origins rooted in our mission to educate, empower, and evangelize.
